Plantation Floors is the result of three-and-a-half decades of being in the flooring industry.

My passion for flooring started in the early 80’s. My first job was working in the warehouse of Dick Curry & Sons. Mr. Curry took me under his wings and molded me. Overtime I was able to master various skill-sets and expanded my responsibilities to carpet installer.
In the late 80’s I ventured on my own and opened McKinney Carpets; a remnant and roll store. The store was based in Pompano Beach, FL and after 8 years of operations I sold it to follow my passion – golf. “Good player but not yet tour material”. Then a wife and three kids later “Reality” set in.
I quickly went back to what I knew best, installation and remodeling, thus starting Bass Dreams. It was here that my daughter Alissa McKinney learned the business. I can remember her spending her summer’s picking up scrapes on my carpet jobs. After years of working in the field with me and completing her bachelor’s degree it was her idea to open a flooring store. Good idea!
The name Plantation Floors holds sentimental value. The first Mechanic (carpet installer) and friend who taught me the installation process actually owned a store by the same. Plantation Floors is dedicated in memory of close friend, Ken Knedwick…
